Indi awakened in the Auric Basin, her pod having fallen prematurely from her tree in Verdant Brink. Because of this, Indi is smaller than most Sylvari, and has trouble with speech, often speaking in one word sentences. 

Despite this, she is a rowdy, rough-and-tumble hunter who is both extremely talented with healing and able to charm most animals into helping her with her tasks before releasing them back into the wild. 

Before the Pact Crash, Indi made friends with the local Itzel and slowly awakening Exalted, whom she called "The Gold Ones."

During the events of Heart of Thorns, Indi found Talæesyn floating downstream, gravely injured. She healed him and the two quickly found a deep affection for each other as they traveled through the jungle looking for survivors. 

After defeating Mordremoth, Indi traveled with Tal to the Grove where she grew increasingly sad to have never had a relationship with her tree as the other Sylvari have with the Pale Tree. Tal, however, took her to meet the Pale Tree and Indi asked if she would "adopt" her. The Pale Tree told her that she would welcome Indi as one of her many children.
