Eralane was born into the Redoran house as a noble, and is extremely dedicated to upholding the family values. After her older brother's perceived running away, she worked harder than ever to pick up the slack left in his absence. Just before the Akaviri invasion, she became an ordinator, intending to prove herself worthy to become a Hand of Almalexia. She faithfully guarded Mournhold while her father and Meril took the battle to the front lines. Upon the loss of her father, she attempted to become the foundation of her remaining family. 
Just a few years later, Azaryne resurfaced and she learned the awful truth about his disappearance. This news, in conjunction with a confession from a close fellow-ordinator named Bahr-Drahad, caused her faith in the Tribunal to crack.
